Reflexology

Reflexology treatmentWhat is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural, non-invasive Complementary Therapy which works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself.  It works on the principle that the anatomy of the body is mirrored in miniature on the feet. By stimulating these reflex areas the reflexologist is able to detect subtle changes in specific points on the feet and clear congestion. In so doing the flow of energy is restored, encouraging the body to heal from within.

Reflexology does not attempt to diagnose or cure and so does not intend to replace existing medical treatment but rather complement it.

Why use Reflexology?

Many people treat reflexology as they would any other wellbeing booster – to help them relax and rebalance. Because it works on emotional and mental as well as physical levels, it’s recommended for all sorts of conditions, including infertility, PMS, depression, sports injuries, migraines and asthma.

Reflexology is an effective natural remedy for constipation and  helps with the relief of associated pain such as bloating and headaches. Severe and chronic constipation can be treated and managed with regular reflexology sessions.  Reflexology is also an effective IBS treatment helping with pain relief and encouraging a natural correction of Irritable Bowl Syndrome.

Working on the areas of the feet corresponding to the respiratory system and bronchial areas provides an alternative natural treatment for asthma sufferers and anyone with other chest or respiratory ailments. Reflexology can help control asthma through regular treatments and is just as suitable and effective for children as well as adults.

Reflexology is excellent for the relief of all types of headaches, such as tension headaches, migraines, sinus pain and stress headaches.  By clearing congestion in the ‘head’ area of the feet alongside treatment of related parts of the body such as the back, neck and sinuses, the whole body is rebalanced providing pain relief and relaxation.

Reflexology relaxes mind, body and spirit and so reduces stress. It improves circulation and the elimination of toxins. A more efficient circulation increases energy and vitality.

How will reflexology make me feel?

The effects of reflexology are unique to each person. Most people experience a sense of well-being and relaxation, others find it uplifting and energising. Very occasionally people report of feeling lethargic or emotional. This is transitory and should be seen as a POSITIVE SIGN that unbalanced energy is being readjusted and that the healing process has begun. It is important to make a note of any such changes and report back to me at the next session, as they indicate how your body is responding to the treatment

How many reflexology sessions will I need?

A course of treatments may be necessary as the benefits of reflexology are cumulative. The total number of sessions and their frequency will depend on your body’s needs.

After having completed a course of reflexology for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments in order to maintain health and well-being.
